A Catch-Up and The Boiler House Singers in 2022
It's been such a long time since there's been a Boiler House post....
2020 and half of 2021 was spent rehearsing via Zoom. It was surprisingly successful and it was wonderful to be able to still meet up each Monday, learning new songs and revisiting older ones. It also kept keep the choir together as a group. The choir sang along to harmonies that I'd recorded, so even though they couldn't hear other choir members, they could at least sing along to the other parts. We even managed a very enjoyable Christmas 'concert' in December 2020!
But it was even better when we were finally able to meet up in person again, and in summer 2021 we met to rehearse outside, in the lovely new space behind The Old Church, Stoke Newington. Here we performed in July 2021, as part of the Tower Theatre's Love in the Time of Covid festival, alongside other local musicians. We were joined by our musicians Jo and Kev and a great time was had by all!
In December 2021 we were delighted to return to the ever-magical Dalston Eastern Curve Garden to lead the Christmas Singalong. We stood in a new spot in a clearing in the trees and a large and enthusiastic audience joined us for a fantastic evening.
2022 is going really well, we have lots of new members and the choir is sounding great. We are 10 years old this spring. Stand by for news of our celebratory concert at the end of March!
